by the way, after the prehistoric time, it's in China and about 3000 BC that stencils were first documented. Than in Europe they were "discovered" in the early Middleages and used to decorate church walls. Then there was another boom in the 17th and 18th century to decorate the internal walls of rooms and houses: wall paper was expensive and so people would adopt this technique. From Europe this technique was taken to America by the first colons...
