Madame Vigée Lebrun (Elisabeth-Louise Vigéé-Lebrun) has a high rank among famous women painters
A corageous, prolific artist crossing her life with the French revolution and the turmoils of both her private life as well as 19th century Europe. Daughter of a painter and a hairdresser, she became the most famous painter and portraitist of the 18-19th century (e.g. she painted Marie Antoinette). She was influenced by Rubens and her style is Rococo.
