Frida Kahlo relatively short life (1907-1954) was an intense journey into her inner self. Her paintings depict her passion and physical misfortunes (she was affected by polio and had a tragic incident which forced her to bed and later to regular excruciating pains for most of her life). Daughter of German parents, she lived in Mexico and started her career as a painter after her accident in 1925. Her unique and personal art carries the influence of mexican traditions, religion and surrealism intermingled with biographical accents.
Her self-portraits are carachteristic of her work.

"This film provides an excellent overview of her artwork, explaining her choice of subject matter in detail. A great "Introduction to Frida Kahlo" film. On a scale of 1-to-10 I would rate this documentary an "8"."
I highly recommend this documentary….it's the best I've seen. It presents the best balance of her life story and her art. The numerous photos and home-movie clips are priceless. On a scale of 1-to-10 I would rate this documentary a "9". If some, or even just one, of the movie clips was a "talkie" I'd give it a "10+".
|"9+". But "..If you're looking for a film about her paintings this is not it"
