TIP - Mineral spirit and colored pencils

Using mineral spirit (e.g. Gamsol TM) and colored pencil is a technique that you can use for painting flowers as well. In this video, a general demostration of the technique (not on a flower).

Demonstration of acetate sheet, for help in placing objects on watercolor paper.http://VivianHershfield.com

"You can buy acetate sheets at good art supply stores or online at Cheap joes (or Amazon ). Thanks for your comment."

"Cold pressed paper is mainly for working wet into wet. Hot pressed you work dry with minimal water. The effect is different too."

and this is the same tip from draw and paint.com

"Size and position can be a problem in watercolour when you are wanting to place a figure(s) in a painting. I use a piece of acetate sheet and draw several figures on it in different sizes. I then overlay that on my painting to find the position and a size that looks correct. Its then just a matter of removing the acetate and painting the figure in the correct position. Once you have your acetate you can keep as a template for future paintings." (Bob)
